The weather of 2005 was that benign combination of rain-free warm days and cool nights that makes California the European grapegrowers unattainable dream. Robert Parker, ever the stern critic, likes this wine. In Issue #168 of the Wine Advocate he says, The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate . . . is a classic, elegant effort, perhaps not as extroverted and intense as some of Tognis riper vintages, but offering a beautiful dark ruby/purple color as well as hints of menthol, tapenade, licorice, blackberry, and cassis . . . it smells terrific . . . is loaded with fruit, well-delineated, and capable of 20 years or more of aging.
