Product Description

2014 is our first vintage of our proprietary red Tobias Formation which we are very excited to produce and share with you. Formation is a wine that will subtly change vintage to vintage being formed and coming together from our favorite lots of Cabernet and other amazing red varieties that we grow. By allowing the growing season, vintage and pallets to dictate what goes into this wine we will continually excite your pallet and senses with a big, round, fruit forward and balanced red wine! We take pride in tasting all our wines separately and then making the best blend possible from each harvest. This wine is the Formation of our best lots, the Forman’s working together and what we feel ‘forms together as a unit to produce something great as one’, which is the definition of Formation!

This wine is made by second generation winemaker Toby Forman. Toby learned his skill at a young age from making wine with his father, Ric Forman at their family winery Forman Vineyards. He continually works to make clean, balanced wines that leave you wanting more. This wine is beautifully made from fruit quality, barrel choice and toasting levels and naturally attention to detail from start to finish. Our goal is for Formation to be a wine that you can enjoy with friends, family and food and be your ‘go to’ favorite red wine.

Upon opening, ripe cherry juice and hints of understated oak race out of the glass. This wine has a gem like deep blackberry color with hints of toasted vanilla, black cherry and pipe tobacco upon tasting. This is a big bodied wine that maintains a soft, round mouth feel showing the true balance of the 85% Alexander Valley Cabernet and 15% Sangiovese. This is a killer winning blend that will leave you wanting more! Using 50% new French oak creates a subtle scent and flavor, with hints of well integrated wood amongst the more defined, richer aspects in the nose. The 2014 Formation complements food well as the fruit shines through, but is also a wine that is complex and delicious alone and does not require a meal to enjoy!
