Typically used as a blending grape in winemaking, Cabernet Franc has recently established its own varietal identity. The Ironstone Cabernet Franc is filled with aromas of toasted oak, cherry and violet. In the palate, succulent dark cherry and a hint of herb fill the mouth. With a medium body and finish the Cabernet Franc is a well balanced, elegant wine.
Due to its fruity characteristics, the Ironstone Cabernet Franc is a great accompaniment to dishes like ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil pesto, or fruit BBQ sauces like cherry or raspberry.
Varietal: Cabernet Franc
California produces the majority of wine made in the United States. Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel and Pinot Noir dominate the wine production in California, but many other varietials thrive in the California climate. Many fine wines are produced in California using Mediterranean grapes.
