Product Description

Provenance Vineyards Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc shows a mélange of lemon, peach, tropical fruit and grapefruit notes. Elusive hints of mineral and wildflowerenticing signatures of the Sauvignon Blanc grapemingle with the fruity aromas and flavors. The creamy texture and lemony custard finish come from hand stirring during sur lie (on the yeast) aging. Enjoy this vibrant, dry wine with fresh oysters, goat cheese bruschetta or Caesar salad with prawns or chicken. After gentle whole-cluster pressing, we fermented the juice in a combination of stainless steel tanks (71 percent) and small stainless steel barrels (24 percent), with a judicious 5 percent new French oak barrels for a hint of spice. Barrel-fermented components were stirred regularly during the five months of aging. Winemakers Tom Rinaldi and Chris Cooney blended 12 percent Semillon with the Sauvignon Blanc to further enhance the silky texture and beautifully balanced flavors.

Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc

Region: Rutherford

Region Description:

The region of Rutherford is a large alluvial fan north of Oakville that spreads north and south in the middle of Napa Valley, CA. This sloping mass of sediments deposited by the river gave birth to some of the most famous and historic wineries in Napa. Composed of gravelly, sandy clay loam soil, in recent years you can't hear much about Rutherford without the fraise "Rutherford Dust", most likely do to the warm growing temperatures. Rutherford warm weather is well suited for the Cabernet Sauvignon which is the main wine of the region.
