2012 Dutton Ranch Pinot Noir
Green Valley of the Russian River Valley
Our Dutton Ranch is actually a blend of 2 of the Dutton's vineyards: Thomas Road and Manzana. Both of these vineyards are in the Green Valley sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley.
What does the Green Valley taste like? Well, like this. Its almost enough to sit and admire the richly nuanced color in the glass, opening to Christmas spices, potpourri, violets and rose petals. Silky, but full of substance, this is a wine that shows a new personality each time you pull the cork. Intense layers of dark plum, blackberry and black cherry are tinged with dried herbs and sandalwood. While I could say it has lots of character, I think the true descriptor is that she is velvety, vivacious and a bit of a vixen. This is a wine to ponder a while, and the wait will be well worth it.
