• GRAPE SOURCING •
Grapes for our wine were chosen from vineyards known for producing with Petite Sirah with rich, concentrated fruit flavors, spice and balanced complexity. The majority of the grapes were drawn from the Lodi and River Junction growing areas of the Sacramento River Delta, where cool breezes keep acidity levels high, while warm sunshine ripens grapes to full complexity. These areas are quickly emerging as top growing regions for rich, full flavored grape varieties such as Zinfandel and Petite Sirah.
• WINEMAKING •
Grapes for this wine were handled gently to minimize bitterness and fermented in stainless steel at warm temperatures for approximately one week to maximize color and flavor extraction. The wine was then aged in a combination of new and used French and American oak barrels for 4-6 months.
• WINEMAKER'S NOTES •
Our wine is deep crimson, as ripe blackberry and prune flavors, framed by aromas of sweet spice and mocha, carry through to the palate and linger on the finish. Try pairing it with rich pasta dishes, roasted meats, and grilled sausages.
Varietal: Petite Sirah
California produces the majority of wine made in the United States. Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel and Pinot Noir dominate the wine production in California, but many other varietials thrive in the California climate. Many fine wines are produced in California using Mediterranean grapes.
