The diversity of Napa Valleys appellations provide the 815 Cabernet with round, blackberry flavors from the valley floor and dark, complex mocha-like flavors from the hillsides. Volcanic soils and the higher elevation in vineyards northeast of Napa Valley help produce a wine with structure and a mineral component. Fruit from the rocky red soils and moderate climate of the Central Valley adds balance, soft tannins, silky texture and bright red fruit flavors to the wine. In contrast to these warmer regions, the cool climate and longer harvest of coastal vineyards allow for more earthiness and acidity resulting in a black tea laced wine with spicy red fruit and peppercorns.
Region Description
California produces the majority of wine made in the United States. Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel and Pinot Noir dominate the wine production in California, but many other varietials thrive in the California climate. Many fine wines are produced in California using Mediterranean grapes.
