Corbières, with 32,400 acres planted, is the largest appellation in the South of France, and the fourth largest in France. With Vineyards stretching from the Mediterranean Sea up into the hillsides of Cathar Country, there is noticeable terroir and micro climate differences. From north to south, vast terraces of smooth pebbles, sandstone and marl; then limestone and schist in the higher regions.
Steeped with history and culture, Corbieres has been producing wine since the 200 BCE.
Only the finest, very ripe grapes in perfect condition are selected.
The grapes are separated from their stalks (de-stemming) before being placed in vats for maceration for 10 to 15 days. The grapes varieties are vinified separately before being blended according to each grape quality. The wine ages eight months in French oak barrels.
