The 2009 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a powerful, yet balanced red wine with notes of kirsch, blackberry, and raspberry jam, complemented by hints of spice, licorice, and cocoa. It has a rich, voluptuous texture, supple tannins, and a long, complex finish with minerality and a subtle Lapsang souchong tea note, and is noted for drinking well now while still having aging potential.
Aroma and flavor notes
- Primary fruit: Kirsch liqueur, kirsch, black raspberry, damson plum, red licorice, cassis, blackberry, and raspberry jelly
