Chamisal Estate Chardonnay

750 ML

Product Description

Chamisal was the first vineyard planted in the Edna Valley in 1973 and now contains 80 acres planted to 5 varieties and 25 clonal selections. The nearby Pacific ocean creates a long temperate growing season for exceptional hang time, which combines with the calcareous, clay-rich soil to produce fruit with exceptional intensity and complex flavors.

This Chardonnay presents effusive aromas of ripe apricot and Meyer lemon, combined with intense white f lorals and caramel. The palate is full and bright, teeming with luscious lemon crème brûlée, candied pineapple and green pluot, with crisp acidiy, golden apple and nutmeg on the lengthy finish.

Varietal: Chardonnay

Region: Edna Valley

Region Description:

Edna Valley is directly south of the coastal town of San Louis Obispo. The region was gained recognition in the 1970's for its chardonnay. Gew├╝rztraminer and pinot noir have been planted as well but the results have not been as rewarding as the chardonnay. Low hills on three sides give the valley an open cup shape that collects moisture laden air from the Pacific Ocean. The cool, steady temperatures and fog cover result in a very long growing season producing very unique wine.
