The myriad of dark fruit and floral notes in this Pinot Noir come from the cool, windy Los Carneros American Viticultural Area (AVA) in the southern reaches of Napa Valley. Satsuma plum, blackberry, red rose and violet notes weave through the enticing aromas, mingled with warm nuances of vanilla and toasted oak from barrel aging. Silky, elegant flavors echo the aromas, adding blueberry and plum to the rich fruit complexity. Youll find this wines lush flavors, bright acidity and fine tannins are perfectly balanced to complement a broad range of foods, from grilled salmon and chicken, to lamb and wild mushrooms.
To emphasize the unique character of each Pinot Noir clone in our vineyards, we conducted many small-lot fermentations. The wines flavor complexity was increased by beginning fermentation in stainless steel tanks and then completing the primary and malolactic fermentations in barrels. We aged the wine in barrels made by twenty of the best coopers for flavor diversity.
Varietal: Pinot Noir
This small section of Northern California is situated at the base of both the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. Carneros has made its reputation with its Pinot Noirs, which are filled with strawberry, cherry, spice, and chocolate, and are very rich and seductive. Chardonnay is also excellent, very buttery but not too fat.
